| This figure represents one of the better preserved skulls of Microsyops from the late early Eocene of the Huerfano Formation of Colorado. Note the complete absence of a postorbital bar, the constriction between the facial skull and brain case, and the prominently developed saggital and nuchal crests around the temporal musculature. Also note in the ear region there is no auditory bulla, which either never formed or has fallen off. The microsyopids are no longer considered primates but rather a sister group to the plesiadapoids and euprimates. |
